Mankind is in a race against time. Our alarms wake us up in morning, we then go to school/Uni/ work. Spend the day working, talk, laugh, eat, come back, sleep. And the cycle goes on and on. However, is that all that is there to life? Are we created only to earn money, marry, reproduce and die? Read what Maryam Laheji has to say about this in an article she wrote after being inspired by an interview of Br. Nouman Ali Khan on the Deen Show.
All human beings are rich in “one” asset, Time and that time is constantly being taken away from us…
The rich, the poor, the healthy and the sick, we all have this treasure of time with us. But amazingly, “Indeed, every single human being is drowning in loss” (Chapter 103, Verse 2, Quran)
An image, consider yourself as drowning in water but you are subconscious, asleep. How do you think you will save yourself? or firstly, Do you think you have got enough time with you? Every second is important, every second is precious…
So now, what’s the first thing you need to do?… “Wake up”
There is nothing more important than that, before waking up nothing holds relevance.
This is life, we are partying, living the most of it, enjoying or at least trying to enjoy every bit of it.But come to think of it, it’s all a dream. The reality is “We are all drowning”. Once you wake up and realize your state of drowning and loss, would it really matter if you are living in a mansion or own a palace, you own a car or which car you have to buy? The first thing, any sane being would do after opening their eyes is search for a way of survival. Success (life, study, house, car, friends, party) is important but only after we confirm our survival, without which this “success” is irrelevant.
Time is an ultimate loss of every human being. “He thought money would give him eternal life” (Chapter 104, Verse 3, Quran) You’ve built a mansion and enjoyed your life in it, but there will come a time when you will need assistance to move from one room of it to another…
How long can we be asleep and not see the reality. This life brings with it a false hope of an eternal life though we see in front of eyes, death and degenerating bodies to senility.
It’s time we wake up to the reality of life and find a way to survive and then look for success.
